Again...?
Little Big Adventure 2 (LBA2 for short) was released in europe en summer 1997 and in the USA
and Asia as Twinsen's Odessey (TO for short). LBA2-TO should have been a chrismas present in
1996 but because of some compilcations they released in a half year later. LBA2 is the sequal
to LBA, you much time has passed between them is not sure (because what time unit do they have
on Twinsun).
Again LBA2 is an action adventure (in it's own sub-genre: the LBA genre). Adeline worked hard
on a new engine. This new engine has a completely 3D world for out side (up to 10.000 polygons).
Inside buildings you have the old 3D isometric perspective, but with a little more details.
The whole engine is software based, that means you do not need a 3D card. And if you think the game
needs a heavy machine, then you're wrong: it runs very good on a 486 DX4 100 MHz with 16MB.
Besides the gouraud shading and polygons, the new engine has also light sourcing.
Again the game has a stunning sound track, this time only CD-Quality music no midi.
And once in a while you get a movie sequence.
Ofcourse all the cool stuff in LBA1 is happening in LBA2 again: real speech, complete
freedom of movement, very big game world, riddles/vague hints. This time you can
travel to three completely diffirent worlds: Twinsun, Emerald Moon and Zeelich. You
meet new people and species.
Story
I'm not going to tell the story because this will spoil the game, but I will tell you this:
After Twinsen saved the world from the evil Dr. FunFrock everybody lives a happy live. Twinsen
is the national hero, they raised a museum about him and his adventure. The temple of Bù
has become a theme park.
Everything's going well until sudden there comes a terrible rain storm. Twinsen's friend
DinoFly gets hit by a lightning bold and crashes in Twinsen's backyard.
For so far the introduction, from here on the game starts. You're absolutely not on a mission
or adventure, the only thing you have to do is to find a cure for DinoFly. But while
you search for a cure you'll get into an adventure which tales you to outerspace.
